Líder Transexual ecuatoriana que ha sembrado un enfoque distinto acerca de la comunidad Trans.

Alguna vez se llamó Luis, lo tuvo hasta el 2008 cuando legalmente luchó por el derecho a cambiar oficialmente su nombre de hombre a mujer. Ella es ahora Diane Rodríguez una persona transexual que descubre que su identidad sicológica y social está en conflicto con su anatomía y un día decidió aceptar su caso y convertirlo en su forma de vida, “En mi familia son muy católicos, pero yo siempre me sentí como una mujer atrapada en el cuerpo de un hombre”.

Logró terminar el bachillerato, estudió Ingeniería Comercial, es Diseñadora Gráfica y actualmente estudia Sicología en la Universidad de Guayaquil. Esta guayaquileña es actualmente activista y presidenta de la fundación Silueta X, entidad que vela por los derechos y el bienestar de las personas transexuales sobre asuntos legales, de salud y educación. Tiene contacto con numerosas organizaciones GLBTI a nivel internacional.

El Psicólogo Ernesto Quevedo , Coordinador de la Facultad de Psicología de la Universidad de Guayaquil, expresa “Entre 1200 estudiantes, alrededor de 180 lograron aprobar y estuvo entre ellos Diane, muy preocupada, muy responsable, con convicciones muy claras respecto de su vida, a su desarrollo personal, profesional, realmente una estudiante destacada”.

Cabe destacar el activismo y la lucha de una de las transexuales más emblemáticas del Ecuador ya que es una líder por su capacidad de guiar y orientar, es estricta, disciplinada y responsable. Ha realizado labores de prevención contra el VIH Sida, intervenido en desfiles y marchas sobre el orgullo y diversidad sexual, dictado charlas sobre temas de identidad de género a personal de la Policía Nacional y participó a nivel internacional, con un proyecto, en el encuentro juvenil Feria del Desarrollo, “enfocado a capacitar a las compañeras trans de Guayaquil, específicamente a las que realizan trabajos sexuales, para otras cosas: artes escénicas, costura, peluquería, belleza”.

Actualmente su novio es un hombre de 24 años. “No es acomplejado, me saca a pasear, me lleva al cine, a los centros comerciales, a la playa y a fiestas. Lo amo, le soy fiel y lo admiro mucho. Es un buen hombre, con quien pienso estar hasta el último día de mi vida” Diane no comparte la idea de operarse, pero sí de adoptar algún día una hija.

Para Diane la clave de su éxito es que no desmaya en su lucha y con la fuerza y el empeño que pone en cada proyecto que emprende enfrenta a esa parte de la sociedad ecuatoriana que todavía es discriminatoria y llena de prejuicios. Una mujer valiente que fortalece sus convicciones día a día y nunca deja su sonrisa contagiosa, agradable y muy sociable.
